Curious Minds is excited to offer its tried and tested Bubble Up programme to schools this summer. Bubble Up is a solution for schools that are interested in delivering high-quality creative summer school activity for incoming Year 7s, in line with DfE guidance.
Throughout 2020, arts education charity Curious Minds has successfully piloted and delivered Bubble Up out-of-school clubs for children in Years 6 and 7. So far, we’ve commissioned 96 artists and organisations to deliver clubs in their local communities. The programme responds directly to concerns about the impact of Covid-19 isolation on children’s wellbeing and learning.
The impact of Bubble Up for children has been researched through a partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London. Early findings show that as a result of the clubs, children feel more creative, have a greater love of learning, feel more comfortable with others, and feel more hopeful and positive.
What’s on offer?
There are 3 models available for schools to commission this summer:
Commission with Confidence
This is a training model for schools who wish to plan, commission creative educators, and deliver the programme themselves. This could also be suitable for schools who are interested in commissioning artists to help with their existing plans
Included will be approximately 13 hours of high quality interactive live training over 5 modules, delivered by expert staff trained in online delivery.
Schools will also have access to a resource bank of materials to use for all stages of the summer school, covering engaging artists, planning activity, safeguarding, evaluating and measuring impact.
Cost £300 per school/organisation for 2 members of staff for approximately 13 hours of live online training and resource bank for all stages of the programme.
Supported Co-creation
In this model schools will work more closely with Curious Minds and the creative educators to plan and deliver the programme on the school site.
We’ll work with you to identify broad learning outcomes, commission quality assured creative educators and train them alongside school staff to deliver your summer programme.
Schools will also have access to a resource bank of materials to use for all stages of the summer school, covering engaging artists, planning activity, safeguarding, evaluating and measuring impact.
Cost is dependent on pupil numbers, the duration and scope of the programme, but we envisage that it will fall within the DFE funding allowances.
Off the Peg
Let Curious Minds take the load from you and deliver your summer school in your community.
This model is designed for schools that, due to capacity/venue issues, are unable to deliver a summer school onsite but want to provide the creative and social learning opportunities to incoming Year 7 pupils.
Curious Minds will commission quality-assured creative educators and work with them to plan a summer school programme, ensuring all safeguarding, risk assessment and Covid secure practices are in place.
Cost is dependent on pupil numbers, the duration and scope of the programme, but we envisage that it will fall within the DFE funding allowances. Geographically close schools could pool resource for combined delivery.
This model is for North West schools only.
Curious Minds will work with teachers and creative practitioners to identify learning outcomes and how they can be evidenced.
We are aware this programme requires a quick turnaround, and we are ready with an extensive resource bank in place covering Covid-19 risk assessments, safeguarding and evaluation.
